No one can argue that scented candles add a lovely warm, welcoming ambiance to any room, and when we think about fragrance in the home we tend to think of scented candles, but there are other ways to enjoy fragrances in your home as well as burning a candle. Have you ever tried wax melts?
Wax melts are scented pieces of wax without a wick that are slowly warmed in a melt warmer to release their fragrance.
Melt warmers are inexpensive and can be electric or heated by a tea light. They come in a wide range of designs to suit all tastes and are really easy to use. When you’re finished you can simply remove the heat source and the wax will solidify, ready to be used again next time.
So why use wax melts instead of candles? Well, it’s all a matter of taste but there’s nothing to stop you using both… We do!
You'll find that the scent of a candle tends to gradually ‘drift’ through the room, as it can take a little time for the pool of melted wax to be created, whereas it takes much less time for wax melts to melt and for you to smell their fragrance. Because of this, wax melts are especially handy if you want to quickly cover things like cooking smells or pet odours, but people also love the warm glow from a melt warmer and the atmosphere it creates.
Wax melts are also great if you’re feeling adventurous and want to have a go at mixing scents to create your own fragrance. Simply pop two different melts into the warmer and see what you come up with.
