Here at Alight Candle Company, we've been thinking about how important it is for us all to make home feel like a sanctuary where we can escape the world.

It's often said that home is where the heart is, so it makes sense that a heart (and home) full of contentment, calm and happiness is something we should all strive for in this busy world we live in.

With that thought in mind, we've listed 5 quick steps that we think will help you create a sanctuary at home - somewhere you can return to after a hard day, where the ping of an 'urgent email' feels far away and the stresses of the day are relieved.

Surround yourself with things you love

These could be things you’ve collected on your travels, things you’ve treated yourself to, presents from special friends or family, or just materials and textures that feel comfortable and nurturing to you. Looking at these things will bring a smile to your face and make you feel happy.

Scent your home

Scented candles or wax melts can create a cocoon of fragrance in a room that can transform your mood. From calming woods, delicious fruits, exotic spices or invigorating florals, discover scents that make you feel good and then use them daily in your home.
