If you've bought one of our handmade scented candles in a clear glass container, you might have noticed that some of the wax has pulled away from the side of the glass. Please don’t worry about this, it doesn't always happen but it’s just a natural characteristic of the wax and not a defect.
In the candle industry the characteristic of wax pulling away from the container in this way is referred to as ‘wet spots’ (although it doesn't actually mean anything is wet) and generally occurs when the temperature fluctuates and the wax expands and contracts. These ‘wet spots’ are extremely common and do not affect the safety, scent throw or burning properties of your candle, and you’ll probably notice that they’ll change as the candle is burned or even when your room conditions change. Wet spots can occur with paraffin candles too, but many suppliers choose to include nasty additives to reduce this. We never add anything to our candles except the fragrance, which is Phlalate and Paraben free and vegan-friendly.
Remember, unlike mineral waxes such as paraffin wax, our soy wax is completely pure, clean burning and most importantly non-toxic. Here at Alight Candle Company we make all of our scented candles by hand and love them just as they are - simple, elegant and most of all natural.
